My_Weight_Loss_Journey

Hello…….LIFESTYLE CHANGERS!!!!!

I am so happy to be writing this! I started my weight loss journey in January of 2012. I loss a total of about 18 pounds in a 6 month period. I decided to get serious about this and saw it as a lifestyle change, in July of that year. My brother passed away on July 12, 2012. I was there to watch him take his last breath, and was forever changed in that moment. I promised my brother, Michael, that I would take better care of myself. He said to me, in the four days before his passing, “Meka, please be happy”. Well, I struggled with grief and depression, for about 5 months, while going “cold turkey” with my eating habits. NO BAD STUFF FOR ME. I was afraid for my life at that unhealthy state that I was in. So, after losing my mother (she was 49) and my brother (he was 38), I knew that it was time to change my lifestyle. I began having borderline blood pressure readings, so I knew just where I was headed. I was still over 300 pounds, and that had to change!

Well, the weight began to fall off fast! After only 5 months I had loss about 56 pounds. I vowed to never look back. I began to feel better physically and emotionally. I grieved the loss of my brother and mother, terribly. However, I decided to focus on joy, faith and my health. As of today, I have said GOODBYE to 103 lbs. THANKFUL!!! It feels GREAT!! I must say that Antuan was a great supporter and inspiration to me, during this journey. I am now a member of the 100 pounds GONE, club!! Woooohoooo. I encourage you all to stay focused, be patient and never give up on YOU! Please do not get caught up in the number on the scale, this is about total transformation! I am now focused on fitness and total wellness, as healthy eating was the reason for the first 100 pounds. Now, I have about 25 more to go…I WILL DO THIS!! YOU CAN TOO!!!

Be encouraged! If you make a mistake, just do better at the next meal or workout!! Don’t give up!!

Thanks, Antuan!! YOU ROCK!!!

Blessings,

Tameka
